Maintain the high ground when you are under fire. No victory is worth winning at the expense of picking up the mud that has been slung at you, and throwing it back. Rubel Shelly; Preacher, educator and author Current mood: We are what we pretend to be, so, we must be careful about what we pretend to be Kurt Vonnegut, Jr Novelist "Treat every person with kindness and respect, even those who are rude to you. Remember that you show compassion to others not because of who they are but because of who you are." --Andrew T. Somers Current mood: Current music: Clay Aiken - Measure of a Man. A young executive was leaving the office one evening when he found the CEO standing in front of a shredder with a piece of paper in his hand. "Listen", said the CEO, "this is important and my assistant has left. Can you make this thing work?" "Certainly", said the young man, flattered that the CEO had asked him for help. He turned the machine on, inserted the paper and pressed the start button. "Excellent! Excellent!" said the CEO as his paper disappeared inside the machine. "I need two copies of that." Current mood: Handle every situation like a dog .... If you can't Eat it or Screw it, Piss on it and Walk Away. Current mood: I have recently received an email indicating that I was not responsible for my actions. Please do not ask me for any details, for I will not share them. Those who know .. know. That is all that needs to be said. I wish to say that I am responsible for my every action. I blame no one for what I do, or what I say. Personal accountability is about each of us holding OURSELVES accountable for our own thinking and behaviors and the results they produce. This paragraph and the thoughts below are from a book I have recently read - QBQ! Question Behind the Question by John G. Miller The book has some very poignant thoughts I would like to share with you. What ever happened to personal responsibility, or maybe it should be phrased Personal Accountability? Personal Accountability is the Power of ONE! Don't be caught in a 'blame-storm' trying to find out Who did (n't) do something, who should (n't) have done something that affects the community. Instead, take personal responsibility and ask questions like - "What can I do to solve the problem" and "How can I help the community move forward"? The best thing we can do is to rid ourselves of the "Victim Mentality" or the "Why is this happening to me?" We have to cleanse ourselves of that thinking. We are not victims. What happens to us, we have reason or method of the action. The best way to rid ourselves, is to start thinking in the "How can I" or "What can I" instead of the "When, Why or Who" frame of mind. I can only change me. No one else. As paraphrased from the Wizard of Oz, when the four seeking Oz asked to see him, they got the reply -- No one can see The Great Oz, No Way, No how. This applies as well. I cannot change anyone, no way, no how. I don't believe I ever had attempted that in the past, and I can surely say I will never attempt to do this in the future. I do take responsibility for my actions, and own each word I say. I cannot own how those words were received and understood. I cannot control how someone else restates my words. However, for the pain my words have caused, I apologize. I know what I said and I have heard how those words have been realigned. What was said was said to a friend. What happened from there is a real life version of the child's game "Post Office". I shall continue to own my words and I will continue to own my actions. Wisdom is what we learn after we know it all, and I am not a finished product. I learn every day, from many sources. I hope you are one of my sources! I have made a mess with a few friends, and all I can say is that it is MY mess. I did it, I own it, and I apologize for all hard feelings that have come from it. Love and hugs! Current mood: BUZZARD - If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6' x 8' and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10-12'. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top. BAT - The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and painfully until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash. BUMBLEBEE - A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself. PEOPLE In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up. Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, but faith looks up. Live simply, love generously and care deeply; Speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us. May your troubles be less, your blessings more, and may nothing but hope come through your door! Current mood: My horoscope for today - 7/21/07 If your attention is being divided between your home life and your public life, the best choice is to focus more on the issues that are going on around your home. Why? Because your home is your refuge -- a safe foundation -- and you need to keep it that way. Everything from household squabbles to a broken faucet could be causing you stress right now, so attend to all of them and make sure that you can leave your home every day knowing that you will return to peace and calm. Thank you, all who are a part of my life, and can also understand the meaning of these words. Your home is priority number one in your world. Reduce or eliminate the outside stressors and focus on the growth of your home. Hugs to all! Current mood: Current music: Top Gun Soundtrack. |
